Discover Croatia
Croatia, nestled along the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea, has emerged as a premier destination for travellers seeking both natural beauty and cultural richness. From its stunning coastline to its historic towns, Croatia offers an array of highlights that captivate the senses and provide a diverse travel experience and is worthy of more than a single centre holiday.
In Croatia’s far south is one of its most iconic destinations: Dubrovnik. Often referred to as the Pearl of the Adriatic, this historic UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts well-preserved medieval architecture, enchanting cobblestone streets and impressive city walls that all offer panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea. Equally charming is the town of Cavtat, a short boat ride away from its more famous neighbour.
Split, another gem on the Adriatic coast, is renowned for the Diocletian’s Palace, an ancient Roman palace complex that forms the historic heart of the city. This UNESCO-listed site is a maze of narrow streets filled with shops and hidden courtyards. The Riva promenade, lined with palm trees and lively cafes, offers a perfect spot for relaxation with a view of the bustling harbour. Close to Split’s airport is the stunning Venetian town of Trogir, located on a tiny island connected by bridges to both the mainland and the much larger Čiovo Island. Watch the world go by on its wide, seafront promenade which is lined with many boats, restaurants and bars.
For lovers of natural wonders Croatia will spoil you. Plitvice Lakes National Park with its series of cascading lakes and waterfalls, and Krka National Park with its waterfalls, gorges and canyons are both must sees.
Croatia’s Adriatic coast is made up of over 700 islands and, with many connected to the mainland by bridges or ferries, “Island Hopping” is a great way to explore Croatia.
In Istria, Rovinj with its pastel-coloured houses, narrow winding streets, and a picturesque harbour, Rovinj exudes a romantic charm. The town is also a gateway to exploring the Istrian peninsula, known for its truffle-rich forests, medieval hilltop villages and rolling vineyards (the best of which are around Motovun).
Whether exploring as a couple or as a family, Croatia will provide a beautiful backdrop for your next European adventure.
